Language

La fabla is a vernacular language derived from Latin, whose usage decreased dramatically from the 1940's, mainly as a consequence of the emigration and depopulation of this area.

Sobrarbe is a county where we can still meet Fabla speaking people, who use this language to communicate with their neighbours and family, especially in those valleys where this vernacular is known by its different local names in order to show the special features of this language in each valley: belsetán in the Bielsa Valley, chistabín in the Chistau Valley or fobano in La Fueva.

In Sobrarbe, some writers use Fabla in their literary works, such as Nieus Luzia Dueso, Chuaquin Castilllo or Quino Villa.
