27. Assilinas and nummulites on Mondicieto

The site is concentrated in one or two stratum surfaces or channel beds near the summit mentioned. Geological unit T3.

The foraminiferans were redeposited in turbidites, forming stratum surfaces or channel soles. The size of the assilinas is remarkable and they have the characteristic white spots (pillars), which can be seen with the naked eye but are especially impressive when viewed using a magnifying glass.

Start near the Ziarrazils vantage point and take the Cutas path and then another path some 800 metres further on to reach the vantage point. From there, take the high-mountain route suitable for novice walkers that heads directly up the side of Mondicieto to the summit.

Site at the UTM coordinates 31T 253737 4724057.
